For instance, if a safe has a £4000 cash rating this means that generally your Insurance Company will cover up to £4000 in cash or up to £40,000 in jewellery/valuables. Underfloor Safes

These safes are generally used in commercial situations and are placed in a hole in the ground which is then filled with concrete to prevent easy removal. The top of the safe sits flush with the floor so it can be concealed by placing a floor covering over it.

• These safes can also have a deposit tube so that capsules with cash can be dropped into the safe without the safe being open, but these capsules can only be removed by accessing the safe using a key or combination lock

Floorboard Safes

These safes are fitted into floors with joists and bolted into the joists from inside the safe. They generally come with a recommended cash rating of £1000 and are only available with key locking. The top of the safe sits flush with the floor so it can be concealed by placing a floor covering over it.

Data Safes

Many homes have computers these days. Protecting computer media requires more protection than just a simple box or safe as the temperature and humidity must be kept at a much lower level. This is because computer media is plastic and will melt at a much lower temperature than when paper starts to burn.

• Data safes are normally certificated to 1 hour Fire testing at 950° C but 2 hour certification is also available

• They are fixed with a non-invasive fixing plate to allow the safe to be secured without breaching its fire protection

Fire Resistant Safes

If you wish to keep documents or papers safe from the risk of fire, a fire resistant safe is adequate for this task. The loss of documents through fire results in almost half the companies that suffer a fire going out of business within six months, unable to complete their financial statement.
