BS 8473:2006 Management of False Alarms.

The new British Standard for Management of False Alarms was published, dated October 2006. It is replacing the current DD 245:2002  All monitored alarm systems will need to comply with this new standard after the 31st March 2007.

In the new standard there are several new regulations including that only one Policed False Alarm during a rolling 12 month period will be allowed to have a  remote reset, all other resets will need to be carried out by an engineer attending the premises, to evaluate why the alarm activated and to prevent it from doing so again.  This may require either adjusting or replacing damaged sensors, or giving training to operators of the system.

All installers will now be required to maintain a complete log of activations showing why the system activated, using a new form for collating the information.
