ACPO PA Intervention Policy

The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) have recently updated the false Alarm Policy regarding Police response to PA activations from Intruder Alarm Systems.

If a system looses its Police response, due to an excessive amount of false activations from deliberately operated devices, the Police will only re-instate the system providing it has been setup for PA Intervention, to attempt to reduce the number of false alarms.

PA Intervention is where, when a Hold-up device is operated the call goes through to the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) the operator will then attempt to call the premises to determine whether the incident is a false activation by the use of a password, or if the incident is Policeable where no password is given or the phone not answered.

If PA intervention is required, then the ARC will make an additional charge for this service, due to the additional response the operators will need to take to Intervene and to satisfy the Police that the hold-up device has not been used incorrectly.
